I'm a retired English teacher who lost my partner unexpectedly to cancer last May. Four months before he died, and before we knew he was terminally ill, I decided to start a second career as a paralegal, so I'm halfway through my degree. I thought of dropping out when he started hospice...but he made me promise not to. Honestly, what I feel right now is terrified of the uncertain future. I got used to having help around the house, and in the past year, had to rely on YouTube to DIY fix: my dryer blower fan, A/C float switch, car, evaporator coil in the fridge, etc. I've experienced having food poisoning and no one to call! While it may sound transactional, what I am really looking for is a friend that I know I could ask for help and do the same for them in return. There's much more, but with 184 and decreasing characters left to type...I'll end this for now.
